In May 2023, a roundtable discussion "Mechanism for Ensuring Access to Higher Education for People from the Occupied and Frontline Territories" was held at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv on the initiative of Rector Volodymyr Buhrov, where the Ukrainian National Committee of the International Chamber of Commerce - ICC Ukraine acted as a co-organizer.
Today, the war closes many opportunities for young people from the frontline and occupied territories. They are either doomed to fall victim to Russian propaganda or deprived of real access to quality Ukrainian higher education.
The roundtable discussed the importance of the political identity of the younger generation for the future of a free Ukraine.
For this purpose, a new state policy should be proposed to ensure access to higher education for children from the temporarily occupied and frontline territories. This policy should be aimed at fostering Ukrainian republican patriotism in Donbas and the Ukrainian South.
The new generation of Ukrainians from these areas should have a strong Ukrainian political identity and become the voice of an effective democratic political process in our country.
Today, we must provide a special preferential mechanism for these young people to obtain a quality Ukrainian higher education
